Welcome to the 7th Section of the Wilson Trail, an easy 10.2-kilometer trail along the serene Shing Mun Reservoir, crossing Lead Mine Pass, before finishing in Yuen Tun Ha. This section is generally considered to be one of the easiest of the Wilson Trail. Though it's one of the longest sections, with over 10 kilometres, it has little elevation, and the trail along the Shing Mun Reservoir is very walk- and runable.
Some people consider this section rather monotonous, at least compared to other trails in Hong Kong. With an estimated completion time of 4 hours, it’s also a longer hike. For those running, you can complete this section significantly faster, however. When completing the entire Wilson Trail in one go, for example, this section is one to log kilometers and pick up speed.

With little elevation gain and a well-maintained path, this section is one of the easiest on the Wilson Trail. It’s ideal for beginners, families, or anyone looking for a relaxed, low-intensity hike. Though it’s one of the longest sections, the flat terrain makes it feel manageable. The estimated completion time is around 4 hours, but trail runners can finish it significantly faster. It’s a great way to log some miles without too much strain.
Lastly, as you cross Lead Mine Pass, you’re walking through an area steeped in history. The pass was once a key route for transporting lead ore, adding a touch of intrigue to your hike.

Note that once you're on Section 7, you have little choice but to complete it. There aren't many "exits" and public transport options in Yuen Tun Ha are limited. The closest MTR station is Tai Po Market, a 3km walk. Some mini-buses operate in the area and can take you to the station.
