This challenging section of the Wilson Trail is approximately 8 kilometers long and typically takes about 3 hours to complete. It starts at Tseng Lan Shue and ends in Sha Tin Au / Pass, a good place to stop for cup noodles at 恒益商店, a popular hikers' and trail runners' rest stop.

Why Hike Section 4 Of The Wilson Trail
Starting in the peaceful surroundings of the small village Tseng Lan Shue, the trail quickly ascends into the lush greenery of Ma On Shan Country Park.
Along the way, you’ll tackle the iconic Fei Ngo Shan (Kowloon Peak), one of the highest points in Kowloon that offers panoramic views of Hong Kong’s skyline, Victoria Harbour, and the sprawling landscapes of Sai Kung. The ascent to Kowloon Peak requires a good amount of stamina, which is why this section of the Wilson Trail is considered to be amongst the more difficult.
The trail offers a mix of rocky paths, forested areas, and open ridges. This keeps the hike interesting and lets you experience different parts of Hong Kong’s natural environment. However, proper shoes are highly recommended in order to tackle the trail!
The descent to Sha Tin Pass is equally rewarding, with shaded paths and serene forest trails providing a refreshing end to your hike.
Overall, despite being close to the city, this section feels remote and peaceful. It’s a great way to disconnect from the busy urban life and enjoy nature. Don’t forget to bring water, wear good shoes, and enjoy the journey!
