Why Hike Section 10 Of The MacLehose Trail

Section 10 of the MacLehose Trail marks the final stretch of this epic 100-kilometer journey, and for those who have run or hiked the entire trail, it is probably a moment filled with both relief and determination.

Knowing that this is the last section can be a powerful motivator, pushing you to dig deep and finish strong. However, don’t let the excitement of nearing the end fool you—this section is still a challenge in its own right.

At 15.2 kilometers, Section 10 is one of the longest on the MacLehose Trail, and it includes a surprising amount of elevation gain and loss. The terrain can feel a little monotonous at times, with long stretches of paved paths and less dramatic scenery compared to earlier sections. But every step you take brings you closer to your ultimate goal: completing the entire MacLehose Trail.

Overall, Section 10 is not considered very scenic compared to other parts of the MacLehose Trail. The trail takes you through forests and along roads, offering a mix of paved and unpaved paths.

Section 10 is more about the journey itself rather than the views. For those who’ve made it this far, Section 10 is a testament to your endurance, grit, and stamina!

It’s a true reminder that even the final stretch of a journey requires focus and perseverance. The good thing is that you cannot give up. Unless you complete Section 10, you'll be stranded in the Tai Lam Forest. So, as you make your way from Tin Fu Tsai to Tuen Mun Town, keep your eyes on the prize. The sense of accomplishment you’ll feel when you cross the finish line is worth every step!
